Choose for the children and the actual school week
For toddlers, Protaras is a useful starting point when beach time and a straightforward resort holiday matter most, but check the beach and stroller route beside the hotel. Side suits schoolchildren who prioritise large resorts, pools and activities; the trade-off can be a longer transfer. With teenagers, Costa Adeje is worth considering when the family wants more beyond the hotel, though popular areas may cost more. Autumn-break dates vary between schools, municipalities and counties. Check the school calendar before choosing dates, as one day can decide whether the whole trip fits.

Protaras is best suited for families and couples who want a safe, easy beach holiday with good swimming bays, restaurants and a quieter nightlife than Ayia Napa. The area has a clear resort character, but more family-oriented than party-oriented. It's a good choice if you want to stay close to Fig Tree Bay and have enough dining within walking distance.

Pafos is suitable for those who want a beach holiday with history, harbour, old town and excursions to Akamas or Coral Bay. The area is good for couples and families who want more content than just sunbeds, but still a simple resort base. Choose your location according to whether you want to live near Kato Pafos, quieter hotel zones or more beach-focused areas.

Side is well suited for those who want a beach holiday with more character than a pure resort area. The old town, the harbour, the ruins, the restaurants and the promenades make the place great for both families and couples. There is enough life in the evening, but not as hard nightlife as Alanya or Marmaris.

Costa Adeje is very suitable for families, couples and customers who want a comfortable package tour with beaches, pool hotels, restaurants, shopping and activities nearby. The area is more polished and has a resort feel than the local area, but it makes for very easy everyday holiday life without a car. Choose your hotel location according to how quiet you want to stay if you want to avoid the busiest zones.

Puerto Rico is very suitable for families and customers who want as much sun as possible, simple resort logistics and a lot within a short distance. The area has beaches, restaurants, shopping and activities, but is clearly touristic and built on slopes. For more charm and tranquility, Puerto de Mogan or Amadores might be a better fit.
Makadi Bay

It is a particularly good choice for families and couples who prioritize the hotel, swimming and relaxation over city life. October is warmest further south and east, but not always easiest

The highest temperature is not automatically best with children. Stronger midday heat may mean more breaks, while cooler days make pool temperature and activities away from the beach more important. Check the forecast shortly before departure and confirm whether the hotel pool will be open and heated, if heating matters.
The room must work after bedtime
At least one bedroom does not necessarily mean a separate sleeping space. Check the floor plan, bed types and exact room category included in the price. A door between sleeping areas can be worth more than extra floor space when the children go to bed first.
Look for a fridge, outdoor space or kitchenette if it matters to daily life. Photos may show another room category. Ask the operator to confirm the bed layout when the family needs a particular arrangement.
Check the beach and pool for each hotel
“Near the beach” does not reveal steps, busy roads or steep ground. Check the beach surface, waves, wind and how quickly the water gets deep. One destination can contain several hotel areas with different swimming conditions.
A family-friendly area does not guarantee a children's pool, shade, slides or heated water. Confirm what operates on the actual dates. Activity-heavy hotels suit children who want plenty to do, but can also mean more noise and a higher price.
Meals and transfers affect the real total
All inclusive can make spending more predictable when the family stays around the hotel. Breakfast or self-catering may suit families planning to eat out. Compare serving times, drinks, snacks and allergy arrangements, not only the meal-plan label.
Flight time is only part of the journey. Check departure times, baggage collection, transport to the hotel and when the return flight lands before school restarts. A cheaper package can be poor value if it requires another hotel night, a taxi or a long multi-stop transfer.
