Zanzibar

Zanzibar combines beaches on the Indian Ocean, turquoise waters, spice history, Stone Town, local villages and resort stays. The region is suitable for customers who want a more exotic beach holiday, often in combination with a safari or a longer journey.

Abeid Amani Karume International Airport is located at Zanzibar city/Stone Town. Many beach hotels are located some distance from the airport, and private transfers or hotel transport are common. Tides can strongly affect swimming on some coasts.

Best months June to October and December to February are usually best for beaches and excursions
Weather Zanzibar is warm all year round with a tropical climate. The dry periods provide the best beach conditions, while the rainy season can bring heavy showers, high humidity and a more unpredictable beach holiday. Sea breezes make the coast more pleasant than inland.
Transfer Transfer is easy to organise, but can take time because the beach resorts are scattered around the island. Stone Town is close to the airport, while Nungwi, Kendwa, Paje and the east coast require longer car transport.
