Puglia

Puglia is located between the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea and offers long stretches of coastline, small white towns, olive groves, trulli houses, simple food and many beaches with clear water. The region often feels more spacious and local than Italy's best-known coastal classics.

The region is large, and the holiday experience varies widely between Gargano, Bari/Polignano, Valle d'Itria and Salento. Car is often the easiest way to combine beaches, white towns and villages. The beaches can be both sand, cliffs, lidos and more untouched areas.

Best months May, June and September are often best for sun, swimming and less crowding
Weather Puglia has hot, dry summers and mild spring and autumn months. Beach holidays are most stable from June to September, but spring and autumn are often better for sightseeing and road trips. Wind can influence the choice between the Adriatic and Ionian side.
Transfer Bari and Brindisi are the main airports. Trains work between some cities, but car or organized transfers make beach and small town combinations much easier. The distances in the region should not be underestimated when choosing a base.
