Poros

Poros is a small Saronic island with a harbor promenade, pine forest, bathing bays and easy access from Athens or Galatas. It is suitable for travelers who want a Greek island atmosphere without long island hopping and with more peace than the largest charter islands.

Poros does not have its own international airport. Normal travel goes via Athens and ferry from Piraeus, or by car/bus to Galatas and a short ferry across to the island. Poros town is most convenient without a car, while beaches and viewpoints may require local transport.

Best months May, June, September and early October provide the best balance between weather, tranquility and availability
Weather Poros has a classic Saronic Mediterranean climate with dry, hot summers and mild, wetter winters. Spring and autumn are more pleasant for walking, cycling and combining with Athens/Peloponnes.
Transfer Getting there is easy compared to many small islands: ferry from Piraeus or road to Galatas and a very short ferry across the strait. For late flight arrivals in Athens, ferry times must be checked carefully.
