Franske riviera
The French Riviera, Côte d'Azur, stretches around Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Villefranche-sur-Mer, the Monaco area and smaller coastal towns. The region combines beach, city life, restaurants, culture and simple day trips by train, but the price level is often higher than in typical bargain destinations.
Nice is the most convenient base for flights, trains and excursions. Coastal trains make it easy to visit several places without a car, while a car can be useful for small villages and inland, but parking and traffic can be demanding in high season.

Antibes
Antibes is suitable for those who want a Riviera base with an old town, beach, restaurants and a bit more local charm than the most glamorous neighboring towns. Couples get a lot out of city walks, markets, food and short train trips, while families can thrive close to the beaches and the city centre. It's lively in season, but not as nightlife-driven as Juan-les-Pins or Cannes.

Cannes
Cannes is suitable for couples and adults who want the beach, shopping, restaurants, events and glamorous Riviera atmosphere all in one walkable city. Families can have a nice holiday here, but the price level, crowds and evening profile make the area less suitable for small children than quieter coastal towns. Choose Cannes for the city beach, Croisette and nightlife, not for a cheap or secluded holiday.

Eze
Èze is best suited for couples and adults who want a beautiful medieval village, views, romantic atmosphere and short visits rather than a classic beach resort. The area is charming and quieter than large Riviera towns, but steep streets, level differences and limited choice make it less practical for young children. Check carefully whether you mean Èze Village or Èze-sur-Mer, because transport and holiday experience will be quite different.

Grasse
Grasse is suitable for couples and adults who want perfume culture, old town, local markets and a quieter inland base near the Riviera. This is not a beach resort, but a good choice for those who like history, crafts, fragrance workshops and day trips to Cannes and Nice. Families can enjoy a shorter stay, but small children get less direct bathing and resort value here.

Juan-les-Pins
Juan-les-Pins is suitable for those who want a classic beach holiday on the Riviera with sand, restaurants, bars, shops and more evening energy than Antibes' old town. The area works well for couples and families who want the beach and simple everyday life, but can get busy and lively in the high season. Choose this over Antibes if you want to stay closer to the resort and nightlife.

Menton
Menton is suitable for couples and families who want a nicer and quieter Riviera base with an old town, beach, restaurants and train-friendly day trips. The town has a more local and Italian feel than many neighboring towns, while still providing a simple everyday holiday experience. It is less suitable for those who primarily seek nightlife, luxury shopping or a high level of partying.

Monaco
Monaco is suitable for couples and adults who want compact glamour, harbour, casino, shopping, restaurants and very easy transport along the Riviera. Families can find safe and interesting experiences, but the price level, luxury feel and limited beach focus make it less bargain-friendly. This is a strong choice for a short city and coastal experience, not for a quiet low-budget holiday.

Monaco city
Monaco city is suitable for those who want to live or visit the historic Monaco-Ville side with its palace, old streets, views and a short distance to the rest of the principality. The area is more cultural and quieter than Monte Carlo, but still very compact, expensive and urban. It works best for couples, adults and short-stay families who want sights and easy transport more than a beach resort.

Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo is best for couples and adults who want a casino, luxury hotels, shopping, restaurants and glamorous city life in a very compact format. It is less suitable for price-conscious families and small children, and tranquility is not the main point here. Choose Monte Carlo for an exclusive Riviera atmosphere and short distances, not for a local everyday feeling or an affordable resort holiday.

Nice
Nice is suitable for those who want the Riviera's most convenient city base with beach, old town, restaurants, shopping, tram, train and airport close to the holiday. Couples and adults get the most out of food, culture and day trips, while families can thrive if they can stand the pebbly beach and city pace. This is a strong choice when you want to experience several places without a rental car.

Saint Tropez
Saint-Tropez is suitable for couples and adults who want a beach holiday with a higher price level, restaurants, shopping, beach clubs and nightlife with a distinct celebrity and luxury feel. Families can have nice beach days, but the price level, logistics and nightlife make the area less obvious for a simple and affordable holiday. Car, taxi or boat transport is often more relevant here than at train-friendly Riviera bases.
